I put the hash files in /system/mame/hash. The game filed I grabbed has the same name as the file you mentioned, but it was a.zip instead of a.chd. I made a backup and changed the extension to.chd, but that didn’t seem to help either. When I try loading crsword2.zip using the MAME core, all I get is the “Initializing” MAME screen. Not sure exactly what I’m doing wrong, I’m guessing a wrong file name, folder or placement, but I’m not sure if the zip/chd file I’m using is correct either.

Or are there different neogeo.zip-files, so that I may require a certain one for the 037b5-roms (and if that is the case, can somebody help me find it?). I hope you can help.

I used different romsets for MAME and for Neo-Geo, and where I placed the folders means I used different emulators. Quit the game and try starting again. It should fail now. (Assuming it will let you pick the newest missing BIOS). FYI, this is kind of by design. When I added the 'bios' functionality, I made it possible to load a game so long as you had the minimum roms to launch it in a given configuration (i.e. The bios you specified was available + the game roms).

Worse comes to worse, I can run the game in Neoraine, but I’m trying to get everything in my little retroarch family. Yeah, that folder and file structure looks right. So long as you put the hash file into your system/mame/hash folder, it should work. The only other things to try are: • Try retroarch_debug.exe to see what error you get • Update the mame core, or maybe try mess2014 (which would require you put the hash file into system/mess2014/hash folder) • Ensure your chd file is correct. The bad news is that it doesn’t seem to save my custom bindings. I think you need unmerged ROMs torrentzipped, since this is how many of the sets are acquired but this doesn’t help with individual ROMs downloaded from other sources. Seriously, that's how I did it. Find a full Neo-Geo romset and use the bios from there - if it works, great, if not repeat with a different romset. So are you saying that (for example) there are different versions of the ROM for Metal Slug 6 and I need the one that works with mame2003?

It's driving me crazy. I have been trying this all morning (ended up home from work after pulling a muscle in my back) and no dice. Archive.org only has a 0.2.97.38 set and when I extract it on Mac or Windows it says it is corrupt. I am downloading it again to retry. When I found a site that claimed to have downloads for individual ROMs that were 0.2.97.39, and I put them in the folders suggested, nothing. Why is this so difficult? There seems to be so much info about this online, but nowhere has just a step by step guide with links to ROMsets etc.

I put the neo geo bios file still zipped in the rom folder and yet every time I go to play a Neo geo game(also it's only listing like 5 from the 180 games I have in the folder that are tested and working) it says I'm missing the required ROM or CHD images(Neo geo games don't have CHD's, right?) Another strange thing. When i put any of the neo geo games in the rom folder it makes all my other non neo geo games unlisted in the game selection.
